SPK files criminal complaints over OZATD trading
SPK referred 11 people to prosecutors over trading in Özata Denizcilik shares and imposed two-year trading bans. Five had their licences revoked.
The decision
In its September 25 bulletin, number 2026/65, the Capital Markets Board (SPK) announced the results of its review of trading in Özata Denizcilik (OZATD) shares. Under Article 107/1 of Capital Markets Law No. 6362, which covers transaction-based market manipulation, it decided to file criminal complaints against 11 people.
Sanctions
The same people received two-year bans from trading on the exchange and other organised markets. Five of them had their capital markets licences revoked for the length of the ban. The decisions rest on the relevant provisions of the law and SPK's rules on measures in insider trading and market manipulation reviews.
Context
The decision is part of an intensified clean-up by SPK in recent weeks. In September the board also filed complaints in the KTLEV case and over a social media account used to steer trading, and ordered the liquidation of 131 funds run by seven asset managers.
