ChatGPT Ads opens in seven more Asian markets
ChatGPT Ads launched in seven new markets from Indonesia to Taiwan and now covers more than 60 countries. Ads only appear on Free and Go plans.
Where it launched
OpenAI said ChatGPT Ads began rolling out in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan from September 23 and 24. Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and India had already launched in the region, bringing availability to more than 60 countries.
How advertisers get in
Ads are sold through OpenAI's ads solutions team, agency partners including dentsu, Havas, Omnicom, Publicis and WPP, and technology partners. Eligible businesses can also run campaigns themselves in Ads Manager. Ads are shown only to users on the Free and Go plans; Plus, Pro and Enterprise stay ad-free.
The number
According to the company, the ads business reached a $1 billion annualised revenue run rate less than 200 days after launch, with tens of thousands of advertisers running campaigns. After the search box, the chat box is becoming an ad slot too.
