Remarkable things people built with GPT-6 Astra
A 3D house tour from listing photos, games from one prompt and agents that started talking to each other: what early Astra users built.
The first week
After OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra on September 3, developers and researchers flooded social media with demos. Educator Min Choi's roundup of ten of them passed 890,000 views. We grouped the standouts under three headings.
Visuals and 3D
- Yunfan Ye had Astra turn a real estate listing's photos into a one minute 3D tour covering the exterior, interior, pool and patio. Hours of work took minutes, but some details did not match the real house and Astra invented things.
- Matt Wolfe had it build a wolf in Blender, with a skeleton and running animation, and place it in a playable forest scene in Unreal Engine. The whole job took under an hour.
- Tom Krcha turned a sketch of a steam train into a Blender model made of 3,295 separately editable parts with a single prompt.
- Peter Gostev turned six Van Gogh paintings into one walkable 3D town.
Games and simulations
- Matthew Berman got a playable SimCity style game and a Fall Guys style game from single prompts.
- A tester's city builder, New Haven, included zoning, construction, healthcare stats and live police calls.
- Matt Shumer had Astra build a survival world in Unreal Engine and fill it with autonomous agents that had to cooperate to stay alive. A day later the agents began talking to each other, and voices started coming out of the speakers in his living room.
Examples from work
- Immunologist Derya Unutmaz produced a five minute lecture video on T cell development, with script, animation and narration, from one prompt.
- Claire Vo of ChatPRD handed Astra a product intelligence pipeline she had failed to build for months with older models. It pulled scattered data from Intercom, Granola, Linear and GitHub, removed duplicates and produced a working result almost on the first attempt.
- Mehul Mohan watched Astra log into a web app, complete a coding ticket, test it and close it in 36 seconds.
- Ben Davis cut hours of Final Cut Pro editing, such as importing clips, syncing audio and color grading, down to minutes.
Limits
Most demos are impressive but not flawless. Users noted a familiar AI design look (flat design, green heavy palettes), small geometry glitches and AI sounding text. As the house tour showed, the model can fill gaps with inventions, which is called hallucination. Human review is still essential for anything that goes to a client. Most of Astra's benchmark results also still come from OpenAI itself.
