Visa to buy behavioral biometrics firm BioCatch for $2.4 billion
As AI-powered scams and account takeovers rise, Visa is paying cash for the Tel Aviv company that reads user behavior, from typing rhythm to screen swipes.
The deal
Visa agreed on August 3 to buy Tel Aviv-based BioCatch for $2.4 billion in cash from Permira and other investors. Closing is expected in Visa's fiscal second quarter of 2027.
What BioCatch does
Its behavioral biometrics analyse typing cadence, touchscreen swipes and device handling to catch scams before payment. BioCatch protects 1.8 billion devices and 760 million users for more than 350 banks in 21 countries, including over 100 of the world's largest.
