Alibaba opens 2.4T-parameter Qwen3.8-Max in its cloud
Previewed in July, the model went live in the cloud on August 3. Alibaba had said it would release the weights too.

Qwen3.8-Max has 2.4 trillion parameters. Alibaba previewed it in July, said it would release the weights, and opened the cloud version on August 3.
The open-model race
As of August 12 it ranked second among open-weights and Chinese models, behind Moonshot AI's 2.8-trillion-parameter Kimi K3, whose weights went public in late July.
