Anthropic: robots can do most physical tasks but cost too much
Covering about 900 jobs and 19,000 tasks, the analysis finds robots can do three quarters of physical tasks but are cheaper than people on just 0.3%.
Findings
Robots can technically perform three quarters of US physical job tasks, about 34% of working hours, yet they are cost-competitive on only 0.3%. If prices keep falling at past rates, reaching 10% would take 40 years.
Who is exposed
Workers in robot-exposed jobs are more often male, less educated and lower paid, and over 50 years those jobs saw bigger falls in wages and employment. Adding language models, about 80% of working time is exposed to robots, models or both.
