Anthropic files for IPO, plans Nasdaq listing as ANT
Claude maker Anthropic has publicly filed its S-1 with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The company booked $16.3 billion in revenue in the first half of 2026 and an $80.7 billion net loss over the same period. The listing is expected in mid-November.
What happened
Anthropic made its IPO filing public on 26 October. It plans to list on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT, with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley leading the deal. The S-1 leaves out the share price, share count and valuation, which will be set after the roadshow. NBC News and Yahoo Finance report that the listing is expected in mid-November, slightly later than planned because of recent market swings.
The numbers
First-half 2026 revenue was $16.3 billion: $4.7 billion in Q1 and $11.6 billion in Q2, against $4.6 billion for all of 2025. Q2 brought the first operating profit, $974 million. The first-half net loss was $80.7 billion, about $72 billion of it non-cash. The company held $112.4 billion in cash at the end of June and has raised roughly $141 billion to date. Headcount reached about 5,300 by 30 September.
Compute commitments
Per NBC, Anthropic has committed at least $110 billion to Amazon through 2036, $115 billion to Google through 2033, $45 billion to Microsoft through 2033 and about $120 billion to SpaceX through 2029. It is also growing "Anthropic Direct", buying accelerators and running them in leased data centres.
Key terms
An S-1 is the US registration statement that discloses financials, risks and governance before an IPO. The roadshow is where banks gauge investor demand and set the price range. A lock-up stops insiders selling for a period, usually 180 days; Anthropic splits it into more than 20 windows across roughly a year.
What comes next
Talk of a $1.5–2 trillion valuation puts Anthropic near SpaceX's June debut. The risk section warns it may not reach profitability and that advanced AI could pose "catastrophic or existential risks". The price range is the next milestone.
