Almost every major AI assistant has a free version: OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Gemini, Anthropic's Claude, Microsoft's Copilot and Meta AI. You can open an account and start in the browser or the phone app right away. Meta's new agent [Muse](https://www.qanatone.com/en/haber/meta-muse-kisisel-yapay-zeka-ajani/) also comes with a free plan, although for now it is only available in the US. ## Limits of free versions Free plans usually limit how many messages you can send in a given period, access to the most capable models, file and image uploads and voice features. The limits change often and usually reset every few hours. Whether to move to a paid plan is best decided after a few weeks of seeing how far the free version gets you. ## Privacy: what does free mean? In many free consumer versions your conversations can be used to improve the models unless you turn this off in settings.
