# Moonshot AI opens the weights of 2.8T-parameter Kimi K3

Kimi K3 is the largest open-weights model released so far. Its license asks inference providers earning over $20 million a year for up to 30% revenue share.

## The model

Moonshot AI released Kimi K3 on July 16 and published the weights on July 26, a day early. It is a mixture-of-experts model with 2.8 trillion parameters, 104 billion active, a 1,048,576-token context window and image and video input. A Swarm feature runs hundreds of sub-agents for deep research.

## The license

The weights can be downloaded, self-hosted and adapted, but the custom license requires up to 30% revenue share from inference providers earning more than $20 million a year.
